A Thailand Fund Donation Has Its Uses

By: KengToys

Thailand is a growing industrial country with much to offer visitors and investors alike. Unfortunately like many growing countries they have developed some unpleasant growing pains. One of these is the use of child labor. The other is the growing industry of prostitution. The real unfortunate part is that the two often combine. The use of children and enslaved women for sexual gratification is a growing industry that the Government has tried to turn a blind eye to. As a result of this unfortunate reality many charities have developed to try and help the unfortunate children trapped and being abused for labor or sex. The question you need to ask before making a Thailand fund donation is, “what is the money being used for?” Always make sure your dollar is making a difference.

A Thailand fund donation to Child Workers in Asia Foundation (CWA) is used to promote the UN Convention on child labor. The funds are used to make people aware of the exploitation of children and influence the public’s opinion of child labor. It is also used provide a means of communication for different organizations and individuals involved in dealing with child labor concerns. The CWA helps the development of support groups for child works. The most important immediate use of a Thailand fund donation to CWA is the protection of children workers and the attempt to stop and prevent the exploitation of children. They work by changing the acceptance of child abuse, and helping those who have been abused.

A UNICEF Thailand fund donation is also used to protect children in many ways from, preventive measures to assisting those who have been abused. Again there is a strong commitment to the UN Convention on child labor. The focus of UNICEF is education, immunization; child protection and well being, treating children orphaned by HIV or AIDS or suffer from it, and early childhood development. The only issue with making a donation is that it is not necessary going to end up helping people in Thailand. UNICEF uses all donations for every country they are in. They do not set aside a donation strictly for use in one country they use it where it is needed. The focus is on the overall health and wellbeing of children, from development, health and protection from exploitation and abuse.

ECPAT (End Child Prostitution, Child Pornography and Trafficking of Children for Sexual Purposes) will take a Thailand fund donation and use it to further their goal to eliminate the commercial sexual exploitation of children. They will use the money to support “The Code of Conduct for the Protection of Children from Sexual Exploitation in Travel and Tourism.” This is a way to get companies involved in tourism to help fight sexual exploitation of children. This includes education customers that sexual exploitation is a crime through posters and signs. Staff is trained to spot and report suspected child abuse. Even employees of the companies and vendors the companies do business with are required to agree not to be part of the exploitation of children. They take the responsibility of stopping child abuse and give it to everyone involved in the tourism industry as a way to prevent it.

Child abuse will continue as long as we accept it or turn a blind eye and pretend it does not happen. That is why the three above charity’s don’t just try to help the kids being abused but put a lot of effort into educating people that it does happen and that it is wrong. Children are being harmed. Only you can decide what you are willing to do about it. Accept it or fight it. Donations help, education and support help even more.
